In this tutorial you will set up the discovery feed in Eventonomy, and see how members save events and follow organizers. You need Eventonomy Pro. It takes about four minutes. There are five steps. Turn on the Discovery feed. Add the feed to a page. Browse the feed as a member. Save an event and follow its organizer. Then manage follows in the dashboard. Step one. Turn on the Discovery feed. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Features. Find Discovery feed, and click its switch so it reads On. Then click Save changes. On a new site this switch starts Off. Step two. Add the feed to a page. Open Eventonomy, then Blocks. Under Pro blocks, find Discovery Feed. In the block editor, add the Discovery Feed block to any page. On a classic theme or a page builder, paste its shortcode. Follow Button is a block too. Event pages already carry their own buttons, so use it only when you want one somewhere else. Step three. Browse the feed as a member. Now sign in as a member. This page holds the Discovery Feed block. It lists upcoming events as cards. A card from an organizer this member follows carries the label From an organizer you follow. Two filters sit above the cards. One is for city. The other is for category. Pick a category, and the feed shows only the events in it. Step four. Save an event and follow its organizer. On an event page, a signed-in member has a Save button beside Share. This member has saved this event, so it reads Saved. Under Hosted by, a Follow button sits beside the name of the organizer. This member follows Rivera Print Studio, so it reads Following. Either button is clicked once to turn it on, and once more to turn it off. A category can be followed too. Open the events page for one category, and the button sits beside the heading. Step five. Manage follows in the dashboard. In the member dashboard, Following lists the organizers and categories this member follows. With Email me ticked, the member gets an email when a new event is published by that organizer, or in that category. Untick it to keep the follow without the emails. Unfollow ends the follow. Saved, in the same menu, holds the events the member saved. View opens the event. Remove takes it off the list. That is all five. The Discovery feed turned on, the feed added to a page and browsed as a member, an event saved and its organizer followed, and follows managed in the dashboard. Your members can now find events and follow the people who run them. Next in this series: Sync a calendar in from an ICS feed or Eventbrite.
