Eventonomy

About

The middle that was missing.

For years, running events on WordPress meant picking a side. On one side: bare calendar plugins that list dates and stop there. On the other: hosted platforms that hold your attendee list and take a cut of every ticket.

Neither side was built for the people we work with every day: community owners whose members want to gather, RSVP, and bring a friend. Events are not a widget on their site. They are the reason the site exists.

So we built the middle: a community-native events engine that lives on your WordPress site, keeps your data, and charges no per-ticket fee.

The how

A modern engine, not another wrapper

Eventonomy is new code with no legacy to protect. That let us make the architecture calls most events plugins cannot.

No custom post types

Events live in 9 purpose-built database tables, not in posts and post meta. Event queries never compete with your content, so large calendars stay fast.

100% REST, zero admin-ajax

Every block, admin screen, and CLI command talks to the same 56 endpoints under eventonomy/v1. What the plugin uses is what your integrations get.

WordPress Interactivity API

Frontend views render server-side and hydrate with the Interactivity API. Pages work without JavaScript and feel instant with it.

Standard blocks, any theme

All 18 blocks are regular WordPress blocks that inherit your theme styles. No template overrides, no shortcode soup.

The full architecture is documented publicly in the developer guide.

The who

Built at Wbcom Designs

Wbcom Designs has built community products for WordPress since 2013. BuddyX and Reign power membership sites around the world, Jetonomy runs their forums, and Learnomy teaches their courses.

Eventonomy is the events piece of that same family, founded by Varun Dubey, who has spent a decade in the BuddyPress ecosystem.

A decade of support tickets from community owners is the product spec. That is why guests RSVP without accounts, why recurring events are free, and why the waitlist is not an upsell.

See what the middle feels like

The free plugin carries the whole RSVP workflow. Your first event can be live today.
