In this tutorial you will add tax and fees in Eventonomy, so a paid order carries a booking fee, a tax, or both. You need Eventonomy Pro with a payment gateway connected, and an event with a paid ticket. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Tax and Fees. Add a booking fee. Add tax. Know the order of the sums. Then see what a buyer is charged. Step one. Open Tax and Fees. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Payments. Find the card named Tax and Fees. It has two boxes to tick: Add a booking / service fee, and Apply tax to orders. Both start unticked. The line at the foot of the card works the sum out for a 100 dollar order, from the settings you have saved. Step two. Add a booking fee. Tick Add a booking / service fee, and its fields open. Fee label is the name buyers see. Fee type is a percentage of the subtotal, or a fixed amount. Fee amount is the number. Here it is 5, for five percent. Who pays the fee has two choices. Buyer pays adds the fee to the total. Organizer absorbs records the fee, and the buyer is not charged it. Leave Also charge the fee on donations unticked, and a donation carries no fee. Step three. Add tax. Tick Apply tax to orders. Tax label is the name buyers see, such as Sales tax. Tax rate is a percentage. Here it is 8. Tick Ticket prices already include tax when the tax is inside your prices. Left unticked, tax is added on top. Also tax donations works the same way. Left unticked, a donation is not taxed. Then click Save changes. The fee and the tax apply to every ticket sold on your site. Step four. Know the order of the sums. The Coupons card on this tab spells it out. A discount comes off the subtotal first. Then the fee is worked out on what is left. Tax comes last, on what the buyer is charged. Step five. See what a buyer is charged. This is an event page, as a visitor sees it, on a site where that fee and that tax are saved. The visitor picks one Student ticket. The Subtotal is the ticket alone: 25 dollars. Service fee is five percent of that: 1 dollar 25. Sales tax is eight percent of the ticket and the fee together: 2 dollars 10. The Total, 28 dollars 35, is what this buyer would pay. That is all five. Tax and Fees opened, a booking fee added, tax added, the order of the sums known, and the total a buyer pays checked. Your paid orders can now carry a fee and tax. Next in this series: Buy a ticket: checkout, receipt and My tickets.
