How to show an events list and an Upcoming strip in Eventonomy, step by step. Under Eventonomy, then Settings, then Appearance, the List view is ticked from the start and puts a List tab on your events page; tick Upcoming to add a tab that groups events by when they happen. Events per page sets how many events load at a time. For any other page, use the Eventonomy Events List block or the shortcode [eventonomy_events], and for a short strip of what is next use Eventonomy Upcoming Events or [eventonomy_upcoming].
In this tutorial you will show your events as a list, and add a short strip of what is coming up next. You need the free Eventonomy plugin. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Choose your views. Set how many events show. Add a list to any page. See the strip on a page. See the List view. Then see the Upcoming view. Step one. Choose your views. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Appearance. Find the card named Event views. Under Enabled views, List is ticked from the start. That puts a List tab on your events page. Upcoming adds one more tab. On a new site it is not ticked, so tick it here. Default view sets which one your events page opens on. Week and Day, in the same list, need Eventonomy Pro. Step two. Set how many events show. On the same card, Events per page sets how many events load at a time. It starts at ten. Show past events adds events that have ended. Then click Save changes, at the bottom of the screen. Step three. Add a list to any page. Your events page already has the list. For any other page, open Eventonomy, then Blocks, and find Eventonomy Events List. Add it as a block, or paste its shortcode. Per page sets how many events load, and category shows one category. For a short strip, use Eventonomy Upcoming Events. It fits a sidebar or the home page, and count sets how many events it shows. Step four. See the strip on a page. As a visitor, this page holds the Eventonomy Upcoming Events block. It lists your next events, soonest first. Each line has the date, the title and the start time. View all, under the list, opens your events page. Step five. See the List view. As a visitor, open your events page and click List. Events are in date order, under a heading for each day. Each row has the cover, the title, the start time, the place and how many are going. At the foot of the list, Load more brings in the next events. Click it, and they are added to the same page. Step six. See the Upcoming view. With Upcoming ticked in step one, your events page has an Upcoming tab. It groups your events by when they happen, under headings such as This week and This weekend. Each event is one line, with the day and time, the title and the place. That is all six. Your views chosen, the number of events set, a list added to any page, the strip on a page, the List view, and the Upcoming view. Your visitors can now read your events as a list. Next in this series: Add search and filters.
