In this tutorial you will show your events on a map, so visitors can see what is on near them. You need Eventonomy Pro. It takes about four minutes. There are six steps. Turn on Maps and geocoding. Give each venue an address. Add the map to a page. See the map as a visitor. Add maps to your events pages. Then see those maps as a visitor. Step one. Turn on Maps and geocoding. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Connections. Find the card named Maps and geocoding, and click its switch so it reads On. Geocoding provider is the service that turns an address into a map location. OpenStreetMap needs no key. Mapbox and Google Maps need an API key, in the field below. Then click Save changes. Step two. Give each venue an address. Open Eventonomy, then Venues, and click a venue to edit it. The map works from the Address and City fields. Under them is a map with a pin. Drag the pin to the entrance if the address lands in the wrong place. Latitude and Longitude hold the position of the pin. Leave them empty to place it from the address. Step three. Add the map to a page. Open Eventonomy, then Blocks. Under Pro blocks, find Map View. In the block editor, add the Map View block to any page. On a classic theme or a page builder, paste its shortcode. Per page sets how many events go on the map. It starts at twenty. Step four. See the map as a visitor. This page holds the Map View block. Every event with a map location is a pin. Events close together share one numbered circle. Zooming in splits it into single pins. Click a pin, and a box shows the event, its date, its venue and a View event link. Under the map, the same events are listed by date. Step five. Add maps to your events pages. Back in Settings, on Connections, the Maps and geocoding card has a box named Show a map above the events list. Tick it, and click Save changes. On the Appearance tab, Show a location map on the single event adds a map to every event page that has a location. Tick it, and click Save changes on this tab too. Step six. See those maps as a visitor. With the first box ticked, your events page opens with a map of the events listed below it. With the second box ticked, an event page shows its venue on a map, in the Location section. Open in Maps, under it, opens the place in a maps site, for directions. That is all six. Maps and geocoding turned on, venues given an address, the map added to a page and seen as a visitor, then maps added to your events pages and seen there too. Your visitors can now see where your events are. Next in this series: Use the week and day views.
