Video 4 of 4 · 3:03 · captions included

How to report an event in Eventonomy, and how to handle the report as the site owner, step by step. A signed-in member clicks Report at the foot of an event page, picks one of five reasons, adds an optional note and clicks Send report. The site owner and the organizer are emailed. The owner opens Eventonomy, then Moderation, then Reported to read each report, edits or unpublishes the event if it breaks the rules, then clicks Dismiss report. Dismissed reports are kept and can be opened again.

In this tutorial you will see how a member reports an event in Eventonomy, and how you handle that report as the site owner. You need the free Eventonomy plugin, and a published event. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Find Report on an event. Choose a reason and send. Open the reports. Read a report. Then deal with the event and the report. Step one. Find Report on an event. Now signed in as a member. This event promises everyone a free tablet. At the foot of every event page is a small Report button. Members use it. A visitor who is not signed in is asked to log in first. Step two. Choose a reason and send. Click Report. A box opens, named Report this event. Reason has five choices. It's spam or a duplicate listing. It looks like a scam or a fake event. Wrong details, or it isn't happening. Offensive or inappropriate content. And Something else. Add a note is optional. A line or two helps the site team see the problem. Then click Send report. The site owner and the organizer of the event each get an email. Step three. Open the reports. Now signed in as the site owner. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Moderation. The number beside it counts everything waiting for you. Moderation has two tabs. Click Reported. Step four. Read a report. Each row is one report: the event, the reason with the member's note, who reported it, and when. Each member counts once for an event. A second report from the same member replaces the first. Status reads Open until you deal with it. The filters above the list are Open, Dismissed, and All. Click the name of the event to see the page the members saw. Step five. Deal with the event and the report. Dismissing a report does not change the event, so deal with the event first. The three dots on a row hold Edit event. It opens the event in the Event Workspace. Correct it and click Update event, or click Switch to draft to take it off your site. Then go back and click Dismiss report. A box asks you to confirm. The report is kept, so you have a record of it. A dismissed report moves under Dismissed, and it can be opened again from there. That is all five. Report found on an event, a reason chosen and sent, the reports opened, a report read, and the event and the report dealt with. Your members can flag a bad event, and you know where to handle it. Next in this series: Check people in with a ticket QR code.
