Moderation Inbox
The Moderation inbox is one screen for the two review queues: events members submitted that wait for your approval, and events members reported. Both used to be separate screens.
What You Will Learn
- Where to find the inbox and what the count badge means
- How to approve or reject a submitted event
- How to review and dismiss member reports
- Which control decides whether events wait for approval
- Who can use the inbox
Where to Find It
Go to Eventonomy → Moderation. In the Eventonomy navigation rail it sits in the Grow group, beside Reports, and its badge shows the open work in both queues added together (events waiting for approval plus open reports). The Pending and Reported stages on the Events screen link into the same inbox.
The old Reported events address (?page=eventonomy-reported) redirects to the Reported tab, so existing bookmarks keep working.
Two tabs sit at the top, each with its own count:
| Tab | What it lists |
|---|---|
| Waiting for approval | Events members submitted while approval is on. |
| Reported | Events members reported from the event page. |
Waiting for Approval
The list shows each event's title, who submitted it, when it was submitted and when it starts (or "Date to be announced" for an undated event), oldest first. The submitter's name links to their events.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Approve | Publishes the event. The organizer is emailed the approval. |
| Reject… | Asks you to confirm, with an optional Reason (sent to the organizer). The event moves back to draft so the organizer can edit and resubmit, and the organizer is emailed the rejection with your reason. |
| Edit | Opens the event in its admin workspace, for example to fix a detail before you approve it. |
When nothing is waiting, the tab says so and links to the approval settings.
Reported
Members report an event from its page by picking a reason and adding an optional note. The site admin and the event's author are emailed at the time of the report, and the report is listed here.
Each row shows the event (linked to its page), the reason and note, who reported it, when, and its status.
| Filter | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Open | Reports nobody has dealt with yet. |
| Dismissed | Reports you have dismissed. They are kept, not deleted. |
| All | Both. |
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Dismiss report | Marks the report as handled. It moves to Dismissed and stops counting in the badge. |
| Re-open | Puts a dismissed report back to Open. |
| Edit event | Opens the event in its admin workspace, where you can unpublish, cancel or fix it. |
Dismissing a report does not change the event. If an event breaks your rules, edit or cancel it yourself, then dismiss the report.
The One "Require Approval" Control
Whether members' events wait for review is one decision with one control. At Eventonomy → Settings → Setup, in the Who can create events card, New events from members has two choices:
- Publish immediately
- Hold for my approval
The same control appears on the first step of the setup wizard. With Hold for my approval, members see Submit for review in place of Publish, and their submissions land in Waiting for approval. You and other event moderators always publish directly.
Earlier versions also offered a "Pending review" default status, and separate RSVP and account switches that overlapped. Those are folded into single controls. Sites that had chosen Pending review were moved to Hold for my approval on update. See Submission Settings.
Who Can Use It
The inbox, its count badge and its actions require the evnm_manage_settings capability, which maps to manage_options, so by default only Administrators. Members never see it.
