Eventonomy

Search & Filter Block

The Search & Filter block (eventonomy/search-filter) is the control bar for your events page: keyword search, category chips, a date range, and the view switcher.

When to Use It

Add it to your Events page, above the Calendar or Events List block, so visitors can narrow down events before browsing.

This is where the view switcher lives. Grid / List / Month / Upcoming (plus Week and Day with Pro) are rendered by this block, not by Events List. Leave it off the page and visitors are stuck on whichever view is active.

How to Add It

Block Editor:

  1. Open your Events page in the Block Editor.
  2. Click + and search for Eventonomy Search & Filter.
  3. Insert the block, ideally above your Calendar or Events List block.

There is nothing to configure; the block renders automatically.

Shortcode:

[eventonomy_search]

Settings

This block has no settings of its own. What it shows is driven by your site settings and your content:

Control Appears when
View switcher Show a view switcher on the archive is on (Settings → Display) and more than one view is enabled.
Category chips At least one event category exists. See Categories & Tags.
Search box Always.
From / To dates Always.
Create event The visitor is allowed to create events.

What Visitors Can Do

Visitors type a keyword, tap a category chip, or set a date range; the events shown by the Events List block below update in place, without a full page reload. Typing filters as you go, and Enter (or the Search button) applies immediately. Every filter is reflected in the address bar, so a filtered view is shareable.

Arriving from a tag link on an event page shows that tag as a removable pill, so the narrowed list always explains itself and there is an obvious way back.

Switching view is different: each view is a real page (/events/grid/, /events/month/, and so on), so clicking a view loads that page. Your search, category and date filters ride along with you.
