In this tutorial you will set up the emails Eventonomy sends, and edit their wording. You need the free Eventonomy plugin. Steps four and five need Eventonomy Pro. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the email settings. Choose which emails are sent. Set who emails come from. Open Email templates. Then edit and preview an email. Step one. Open the email settings. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Messaging. The first card is named Email. It holds the settings for the emails Eventonomy sends by itself. Step two. Choose which emails are sent. The first box reads, Email attendees when their RSVP is confirmed or cancelled. It is ticked when you start. Untick it and those emails stop. So does the email that tells a person on the waitlist that a place is now theirs. The second box reads, Email an admin when someone submits an event. It goes to the admin address of your site when a member submits or publishes an event. A saved draft sends nothing. Step three. Set who emails come from. From name is the name people see in their inbox. It starts as the name of your site. From address is the address the emails come from. Type a real address at your own domain, so the emails are less likely to land in spam. Then click Save changes. Step four. Open Email templates. This step needs Eventonomy Pro. Pro adds a section to Settings named Email templates. The list named Email picks the email you edit. One email shows at a time. It holds the emails you can reword, such as RSVP confirmation, Event reminder, Order confirmation and Event cancelled. Step five. Edit and preview an email. Each email has a Subject and a Body, already filled in with wording that works. The words in curly brackets are placeholders. Event title becomes the name of the real event. Click one under the Body to add it. Type a new subject. Live preview, on the right, changes as you type. The preview saves nothing and sends nothing. Reset to default puts the first wording back in the boxes. To keep your wording, click Save changes. That is all five. The email settings opened, the emails chosen, the sender set, Email templates opened, and an email edited and previewed. Your event emails now say what you want, from the name you chose. Next in this series: Send reminders.
