In this tutorial you will add an event with no date yet, and an event that only people with the link can open. You need the free Eventonomy plugin. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Leave the date empty. See the undated event. Set the date later. Make an event link-only. Then check the link-only event. Step one. Leave the date empty. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Events, and click Create Event. Under Date and time, a new event already has a start. Starts is already filled in. Clear Starts. The note under it reads, No date yet. The event will show as Date to be announced. Fill in the rest of the form, then click Publish event. An event with no date is published like any other. Step two. See the undated event. This is a published event with no date, as a visitor sees it. In place of the date it reads, Date to be announced. People can still register before the date is set. On your events page, an undated event is listed after the dated ones. Search for Makers, and Winter Makers Market comes last. Step three. Set the date later. Back in the admin, open the event and its Details tab. Starts is still empty. Fill in Starts, and Ends if you use it. The note goes away. Then click Update event. The event keeps its page and its registrations, and now shows its date. Step four. Make an event link-only. In the editor, the Visibility panel is on the right, with a field named Who can see this event. It has two choices. Public, and Private, only people with the link. This event is set to Private. The note under it says what Private does. The event is left out of event lists, the calendar and search, and hidden from search engines. Step five. Check the link-only event. As a visitor, search your events page for its name, Studio Supporters. No events found. Now open the link you were sent. The event page opens with no login, and Register for this event works as usual. That is all five. The date left empty, the undated event seen on the site, the date set later, an event made link-only, and the link-only event checked. You can now publish early, or share an event by link only. Next in this series: Set all-day events and choose how times are shown.
