In this tutorial you will let the members of your site submit their own events in Eventonomy. You need the free Eventonomy plugin, and a member account to try it with. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Choose who can create events. Hold new events for approval. See the form a member fills in. See what the member sees after. Then see the event waiting for you. Step one. Choose who can create events. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Setup. The first card is named Who can create events. Minimum role to create events starts on Any logged-in member, with no restriction. So every member of your site may add an event. Pick a role in this list, and only that role and the roles above it may create events. Limit how many events a member can create caps it. Tick it and set Events per member. Left unticked, there is no limit. Step two. Hold new events for approval. The list named New events from members has two choices. Publish immediately puts a member's event on your site at once. Hold for my approval keeps it back until you approve it. The line under the list says who is not held back: you, and other people who moderate events. Then click Save changes. Step three. See the form a member fills in. Now signed in as a member. In the member dashboard, Create event opens this form. The member types a title, then sets the date, the place and the rest of the event. With Hold for my approval saved, the button at the foot of the form reads, Submit for review. After the click, the member is told the event was submitted for review, and that an email follows when it is approved. Save draft keeps the event out of your approval list until the member submits it, and you are not emailed until then. Step four. See what the member sees after. Under Hosting, the event the member submitted is listed with the label Pending. The Pending tab counts the events that wait for approval. Visitors cannot open the event until you approve it. Step five. See the event waiting for you. Back in your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Events. The Pending stage counts the events members submitted. Click it, and the member's event is in the list, with the member as its author. Approving it is the next tutorial. That is all five. Who can create events chosen, new events held for approval, the member's form seen, the Pending event seen as the member, and the same event waiting in your admin. Your members can now add events, and nothing goes live until you say so. Next in this series: Approve submitted events.
