In this tutorial you will create your first event in Eventonomy, from a blank form to a page your visitors can register on. You need the free Eventonomy plugin, installed and active. It takes about four minutes. There are six steps. Open a new event. Name it and set the date. Add the place and a description. Set registration and publish. See the event on your site. Then set the event addresses. Step one. Open a new event. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Events. Create Event is at the top right of every Eventonomy screen. Click it. The Event Workspace opens on its Details tab, with a blank form named New event. Step two. Name it and set the date. Under Basics, type the Event title. Leave URL slug blank, and the address of the event is built from the title. Under Date and time, set Starts and Ends. For a whole day event, tick All day, and the two fields ask for dates only. Timezone starts on the time zone of your site. Change it for an event held somewhere else. Step three. Add the place and a description. Under Location, type the Venue name, the Address and the City. Use a saved venue, above them, fills these fields from a venue you have used before. For a webinar, tick This is an online event. Under Description, write what the event is about. Short summary is the line shown on event cards. Step four. Set registration and publish. Click Registration to open it. How people register has three choices. People register here takes sign-ups on your own site. Attendee capacity sets how many people can register. On the right, open Visibility. Who can see this event is set to Public, so the event appears in your event lists. Then click Publish event. Save draft keeps it out of sight while you work on it. Step five. See the event on your site. This is a published event, as a visitor sees it. The title, the date and the place are at the top. Lower down, Register for this event takes the sign-up, without signing in. Step six. Set the event addresses. Back in the admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings. The Setup section has a card named Event URLs. Pretty event URLs is on from the start, so every event gets a clean address. URL base is the word that comes before the event name. It starts as event. Sample URL, under it, shows the result. Change the word if you need to, then click Save changes. That is all six. A new event opened, named and dated, given a place and a description, set for registration and published, seen on your site, and its address set. Your first event is ready for people to find. Next in this series: Put events on a page.
