How to take donations on an event in Eventonomy, step by step. Open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Payments and find the card named Donations: Show a suggested donation on the registration form, and Suggested donation amounts. To leave one event out, tick Do not ask for a donation on this event on its Details tab. For a pay-what-you-can ticket, give a ticket the Type Donation on the Tickets tab: its Price is the lowest amount a buyer can give. Then see both as a visitor, and find the donations on the Orders tab of the event.
In this tutorial you will take donations on an event in Eventonomy, with a registration or as a ticket of its own. The settings are in the free Eventonomy plugin. Taking the money needs Eventonomy Pro and a payment gateway. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Find the donation settings. Leave one event out. Add a donation ticket. Donate with a registration. Buy a donation ticket. Then find donations in your orders. Step one. Find the donation settings. In your WordPress admin, open Eventonomy, then Settings, then Payments. Scroll to the card named Donations. Show a suggested donation on the registration form is ticked from the start. It covers every event on your site. Suggested donation amounts are the amounts offered, with commas between them. Here they are 5, 10 and 25. After a change, click Save changes. Step two. Leave one event out. Open an event on its Details tab. Under Registration, find Do not ask for a donation on this event. Tick it, and this one event stops asking. Donation tickets on the event are not affected. Then click Update event. Step three. Add a donation ticket. On the Tickets tab of an event, a ticket can have the Type Donation. This one is named Pay what you can. Its Type is Donation, the third choice in the list. For a donation ticket, Price is the lowest amount a buyer can give. Here it is 10 dollars. Step four. Donate with a registration. This is a free event, as a visitor sees it, on a site with Eventonomy Pro and a payment gateway. The form offers Add a donation, optional. It opens on your suggested amounts, and a field for any other amount. A visitor picks 10 dollars. The form shows a Donation total, and the button now registers and donates in one go. On a site with no payment gateway this fold is replaced by a line of suggested amounts, and nothing is charged. Step five. Buy a donation ticket. On this event the donation ticket has its own row. Its price reads From 10 dollars. When a visitor picks it, a field named Amount opens, and they type what they want to give. The Total follows the amount. Step six. Find donations in your orders. Back in the admin, open the event and click its Orders tab. A donation made with a registration is an order of its own, marked Donation, with the amount under Total. That is all six. The donation settings found, one event left out, a donation ticket added, a donation made with a registration, a donation ticket bought, and the donations found in your orders. Your events can now take donations. Next in this series: Take payment through WooCommerce.
